  Peace Activist

Most recently(2008), Phil spoke as part of a panel of Artists for Peace at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco. The Commonwealth Club is the largest and oldest public affairs forum in the US. Phil was participating in the "InForum" programme. The panel was a part of the recognition of the 5th Anniversary of the start of the American War in Iraq.

Phil is actively invovled in the Campaign to establish a US Department of Peace & Nonviolence. He is a speaker and fundraiser for the Campaign.

In 2007 he was a keynote speaker at the Redding Citizens for Responsible Government Peace Rally on March 17th. Phil spoke on the 4th Anniversary of the Iraq war. His speech, inspired by Robert Kennedy, was entitled "Ripples of Hope" and he offered ten ways for people to initiate ripples of hope to achieve peace, and build a better world. Pedal for Peace Host

In February a group of four Chico students cycled to Oregon to attend an environmental conference. The first night, after a fifty mile ride, they were hosted by Phil & Ana. Benn, Rochelle, Max & Dresden were terrific guests. They have a "sustainable living" website, too. (click here)

Awareness thru the Arts

Phil wrote a novel about the current occupation of Iraq and how it affects Iraqis, US troops and foreign nationals in-country that provide medical and other help for the people of Iraq.

He promotes this book by appearing at bookstores and doing readings from the book as a way of sharing the Iraq situation with others.

2006 Political Candidate

In 2006 Phil ran as the Peace & Freedom Party Candidate for State Assembly in the 2nd District. His campaign consisted of running - literally- the 300 mile length of the District, passing through almost every town and talking to thousands of people.
