Welcome to my book index. You are probably a pretty unusual, adventuresome, or strange person to have landed on this page. My books are not generally found in "local bookstores", or even on Amazon. You won't find my art or my books at Walmart. You have to be looking for something unique, something that appeals to a reasonable level of intelligence, and something that everyone else doesn't own. You've found it.

I've been writing for most of my life. As a result, I have produced a set of books that spans a great deal of time and covers some pretty far-flung interests. You'll find a very enlightening and interesting book about the war in Iraq; an "artist's book" about two cats exploring the Museum of Modern Art (in English, French and Spanish); an original retelling of an African folk story; a small introductory book about the personality types of the Enneagram; a humorous parody about London Tart Cards (adverts used by prostitutes); a Runner's Journal; and a children's book that cleverly deals with racism and bigotry.

These books make great gifts. They are for different age groups (and in the description you'll find the suggested audience). Honestly, since these aren't available widely, I'm not going to make a fortune selling them. BUT, I've priced them competitively and hope you will buy them for yourself or as gifts. My art and my book sales are my sole source of income. I need your support for my creative endeavours and I guarantee you'll be happy with whatever you purchase!

If any of this interests you, please read on. If not, proceed to Walmart.

Brother Eagle, Sister Moon

Brother Eagle, Sister Moon

This is a book about the war in Iraq. I wrote it so that people who otherwise would have no idea about Iraq or how the war affects families, soldiers and non-governmental support personnel would get a glimpse of what the war is like. It is based on true incidents and real people, told in a fictionalised manner.

It is a fairly fast read and several readers who have written me afterwards have said that they read it in two sittings, as they "couldn't put it down" and "wanted to know how the characters made out."

This book has its own web site if you want to learn more about the characters or see some of the text illustrated. Click here.

Enneagram Animals

Enneagram Animals

The Enneagram is a system used by some psychiatrists and psychologists to study personality traits. This book is an artist's illustration of each of the nine types in the "Enneagram" and it contains very basic information about each personality type. The introduction is helpful in undertanding where the theory came from and how it is applied, but this is basically, an "Artist's Book".

Notecards of the Nine Illustrated types ("Enneagram Animals") were published by Amber Lotus Publishing (SF) before the company was sold. The series also included 3 "transitional" personality types for a total of 12 designs. These are now available from Phil Dynan.

Legend of Birdtoe, An African Tale

The Legend of Birdtoe

This is an original re-telling of a popular folk story. While I heard it in Africa and wrote this book based on my experience there, the story also appears in other cultures, most notably in South America.

It is the story of a political prisoner who "escapes" his jail cell. Along the way he encounters a "Brother" who he aids, a "Sister" who finds relief from her own inner demons, and a foreign soldier whom he convinces to return to his own country and family.

Birdtoe not only finds a way out of his confinement, but he discovers the key to happiness anbd inner fulfillment. He spreads his joy and counsciousness in this richly illustrated Artist's Book.

Lonely Hearts & Phone Box Tarts

Phone Box Tarts Meet Lonely Hearts

This parody of London culture, Underground life, and the world's oldest profession has been outlawed in the UK (REALLY!). It seems that the London Tube system doesn't like fun being poked at itself and has sought to punish the artist-author who dared to parody the "Rondel", a shape they claim to have invented.

The book itself is a match up of Tart Cards (ads that prostitutes leave in phone boxes throughout London - although this is also illegal) and Lonely Hearts Ads placed in local newspapers. So, when a "gentleman" requests a "fit, friendly and sports-minded blonde", has he met his match with "Tanya" who appears on her Tart Card wearing only thigh-high stripy stockings and boxing gloves with the motto "Fun, Fit and Friendly"? I'd say that this "gentleman" has, indeed, met his perfect match!

This book is also "Fun, Fit and Friendly". Free parody map of the Underground with x-rated tube stop titles included. Not suitable for children, prudes or those without a sense of humour!

Moto & Kozo in the Museum of Modern Art

Moto & Kozo at the Museum of Modern Art

Two black cats are locked in the Museum of Modern Art one night and as they begin to explore the different galleries, paintings seem to "come alive". At first, its just small things that jump out of the paintings. The younger cat, Moto, plays with the leaves and balls that fall out of the art. But things turn a bit more serious when large animals jump out of the paintings and follow the two cats around the Museum.

Buy it just for the illustrations! (Available in English, French or Spanish)

Moto & Kozo Meet New Friends
New Friends

The new neighbors appear to be just a little "different". The fist clue is when Ken is confronted and affectionately licked by a huge blue cat covered in dream symbols. Moto and Kozo and their friend, Miss Moshe, want to know where these new neighbors come from and follow them to Nanoland. Once in Nanoland the three cats discover they have new friends in this parallel universe.

This is an Artist's Book for children. It is about racism, separatism and bigotry and why these fear-based traits are so unnecessary. Ultimately this is a book about Love and acceptance, peace and understanding.

Great illustrations by Ana Nelson. Readers of the Enneagram Animals or Kozo & Moto at the MOMA will recognise some of the characters...

Paths to the Heart

Secret Paths to the Heart

Strictly an illustrated portfolio of hearts and pathways. There is mystery if you look for it, something like a maze. Random clues are provided in only the way that a former cryptologist might use them.

"Like a mind-expanding acid trip into the head of Rosalind Brodsky, head of Research for the New Military-Occult Technologies for Psychological Warfare Section."

Numbers, locks, cipher, and code. Mysterious, puzzling, romantic and beautiful. Mathematical madness. Art.
